Cyclops provides picture services for three important groups of users:
- The readers, who can view and buy photographs on the 'net'
- editorial, who can pick images and specify column widths for them at the same time
- production, who can store pictures by advertiser and even by advert.
The Cyclops picture library was developed from Cybervision's time-served Production Management system and retains its benefits of performance and flexibility. The system has been recently extended to serve the needs of editorial and internet linked users.
Cyclops is integrated to the Champion's website 'Pixonline' pages, so there is no need to run separate systems for the various users. The same integration process has been used for some time now to allow readers to enter small ads 'on the web' and get them included in the pages created by Cybervision's Adflow pagination system.
Images can be delivered at any workstation in the offices as well as from remote locations across the internet. Although the majority of pictures are being delivered as JPEG files from digital cameras, Cyclops can accept virtually any image format, including EPS and PDF! As each picture is processed, it is converted into the chosen format for the library.
